Democrats want the enhanced federal unemployment benefit of $600 because they know it will slow the incentive for anybody to get a job. The dems want to keep the unemployment rate as high as possible so they can continue using their talking point that Trump’s economy (unemployment rate) is the worst since the great depression.
The democrats know that the American people have very short term memories. A lot has happened since Trump’s 3% unemployment rate - it’s not even considered history. It’s forgotten.
Most Americans (except for those receiving it) did not like nor do they support now the enhanced federal unemployment benefit of $600.
Best thing that can happen is that Trump stand his ground on principle veto this.

And that their base doesn't consider things too thoroughly. Next year is going to be very painful for many of the $600 per week collectors who are earning more than they did working. Unemployment is taxable income, and will also cut deeply into the Earned Income Tax Credit so many count on as an annual windfall. Lots of these folks will end up without much of a "refund" and may even have to scrounge up some cash to send to Uncle Sam.
Of course it will be Trump's fault if he's President. If he isn't, I suppose some sort of forgiveness will be passed.

And then we’ll lose the election.
Win the battle to lose the war.
