3 former presidents mourn John Lewis at funeral in Atlanta

John Lewis was mourned, revered and celebrated as an American hero on Thursday at Atlanta's Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Three former presidents joined in the eulogies after nearly a week of mourning that took him from his birthplace in Alabama to the nation’s capital of Washington to his final resting place in his home of Atlanta.

“He always believed in preaching the Gospel in word and in deed, insisting that hate and fear had to be answered with love and hope,” former President George W. Bush said.

Former President Bill Clinton and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi both spoke and former President Barack Obama was also expected to later address the congregation.

Pelosi recalled how Lewis' body was lying in state at the U.S. Capitol earlier this week, and a double rainbow appeared.

“There was this double rainbow over the casket," she said. “He was telling us, ‘I'm home in heaven, I'm home in heaven.' We always knew he worked on the side of angels, and now he is with them.”

Outside Ebenezer, hundreds gathered to watch the service on a large screen outside the church. Some sang the gospel song “We Shall Overcome.”

Especially when Lewis compared McCain to George Wallace in an attempt to score cheap political points.

I think I have the most contempt for Bush than any of the other former Presidents.

I bet Herman Cain did more to help people by running a successful business then the grifter Lewis did while living off the taxpayers for decades.

He enriched himself at the cost of keeping his own people on the plantation and in poverty. A real man of the people. Feckless full of sh## politicians kissing his ring to make points with the black leadership

so why did he push hate and fear amongst people?

anyone thinking on hate and fear, AND supposedly knowing our Lord, should be casting it out of their head, praying for anyone they think is effected by such evil influence or self thinking that isn’t in line with God.

The less they accomplish, the bigger and more ornate the funeral. Just like this corrupt dummocrap.

“.....hate and fear had to be answered with love and hope,”...

I must have missed that speech, I recall mostly words of hate as he sought to divide the races. A MLK he was NOT!

Say what.....??

*****

The dude was in the party that has killed more blacks through planned murderhood than police ever will.

He was in the party that rejected any mention of God in their official platform.

Bush is an idiot.
