NO thanks! Here in Texas we already pay a shitload in property tax AND sales tax. And the schools are nothing more than day care centers for ILLEGALS and welfare crackheads.

When I was growing up, the property taxes of the towns/cities that utilized the schools were the main source of funding for schools. If three towns used one school, those three towms contributed. Our town paid 80% of its tax revenue toward our schools so it didn’t take additional taxes to fund the schools. The remaining monies went toward services. Of course in those days the cops used their own vehicles and bought their own lights and sirens. Fire dept. Was volunteer and once a year they held a big fundraiser in the form of a carnival at 4th of july. They had quite a few fun ways to make money. The state paid back revenue collected as taxes as did the federal government toward community expenses and some toward the schools. And parents didn’t hve to spend big bux for pencils and crayons, glue and scissors. They were supplied for free. Our schools were excellent quality...really good teachers and each class was well equipped with everything needed including shop, mechanics, home economics with fully equipped kitchens, sewing machines and sewing notions. Wood working class had a fully equipped shop, band had instruments and uniforms. We hurt for nothing. Now...well, its changed. A lot less bang for the buck. And you didnt have to live 2 miles from the school to ride the bus.
I hope Trump can pull off this school choice thing without the government taking over everything. This has been my major concern regarding a voucher system.
