I see REMFs. And someone used integrity and Navy in the same sentence? Jokes write themselves.

Nothing against the old swabbies here, you're from a different time and a different Navy.

When I went through Basic Training in 1976, it was the LAST year to get the Vietnam War era GI Benefits, so everybody and his neurotic brother was coming in. The washout rate was 25 percent or so. Worse in the Army and Navy, Marines were better (and this was the year the Marine DI’s were hit with abuse of trainee charges.

I graduated fine, went to Tech School, did well, and then came home in Nov 76 for a leave before going on to my first posting. I met up some guys from high school, who were all going in or saying they were when I left. So, I asked, where y’all going next?

Silence.

“Well, I was kicked out—but it wasn’t my fault!” A lot of that or similar.
