CBP Acting Commissioner Mark Morgan told Breitbart Texas:
“The overwhelming majority of the individuals still crossing are actually U.S. citizens and LPRs (Legal Permanent Residents - Green Card Holders),” the commissioner stated. “About 83 to 85 percent of those who are coming across the southwest border are U.S. citizens and LPRs.”
“Very few Mexican nationals are actually coming across,” Morgan continues. “And, the Mexican nationals are not coming across for COVID-related medical treatment.”
“What we are being told [by CDC and HHS] is that hospital beds that are being filled up along the southwest border hotspots are not Mexican nationals,” he flatly stated. “It’s actually U.S. citizens and LPRs.”
Apparently, it is a lot of folks who spend a lot of time in Mexico (like retirees, or folks with business or family in Mexico), coming back for treatment when they get COVID.
Thank you for that additional information and context. Still, that leaves 10-15% that aren’t citizens or legal residents coming across for treatment. Yet another reason to get that wall built. As for any illegals needing treatment, stabilize them and then transfer them to a hospital in Mexico as soon as it’s safe to do so. That’s more than generous.
