The idea was to blame cops, the black community and Trump for the chaos. Liberal mayors knew the press was in their pocket - and it should have worked...
What democrats didn’t know was the public AND the black community figured it out AND neither group wanted police de-funded.
That was the overreach...
The black community saw progressive mayors were behind the street horrors - mayors telling their cops to stand down while throwing support to rioters AND that the black community would take the blame. Whites would blame blacks, black ‘leaders’ would speak for rioters, and the press would side with antifa... against Trump and against conservatives in the black and white communities... It didn’t work...
And the backlash from the ‘de-fund police’ bit WAS NOT what democrats were expecting. Smells like a win...
