You cant explain the Confederate flag to some people anymore than y6iu can explain Christ to a radical islamist. Neither will ever open their hearts or minds to such blasphemy!!!
It is the battle flag, not the National flags of the Confederacy.
Australia still honors the one hour Eureka Rebellion and flag while Canada still honors the Metis rebellion with statues of Louis Riel, hanged for treason and murder.
But the Confederate Battle flag, from a four year long slugfest, still gets no respect from the snowflakes.
The design is so well liked it is used in variations by other nations, usually without the stars.
