Gov Abbott should just open our state up. Get rid of the mandatory face diapers too. I am not very pleased with his going wobbly lately.
Looks that way to me too. I think the people out at the riots probably spread it also. I couldn’t care less if they all dropped dead. I shouldn’t have to wear a mask because commie idiot rioters in Houston, Dallas and Austin got sick.
Well, as it turns out, the moment he did, people got stupid—as people will—so he had to take actions. He has been blamed for what is due to undisciplined people...there are a LOT of those... and [I believe] some who have an agenda to make Texas look bad.

It seems there should be exceptions for people who are bothered by the masks. Maybe you can get some kind of write up from your doctor.
I don’t think anything happened except more testing is identifying more cases. I know people who didn’t even take a test but got a letter saying they were found COVID positive. In the meantime, my favorite Sunday afternoon watering hole has been sold by the owner because the shutdowns broke him. How many previously successful Texas businesses do you think that has happened to? Texans are not world renowned for being “disciplined”, the Prussians were and I am glad we are not them. To hell with Abbott and his damned shutdown. I think he should look to South Dakota and learn some governor lessons.
Well, he left it to the mayors, which is as it should be, and some of them failed hugely.
As for the testing, you’re correct. Also the death rate is way down. I think the Texas death rate is hovering at around 1.4%, which, though I wish there weren’t even one death, does not make this virus a killer.

He did, but city governments can override if there’re few cases in the area. And I’m thankful here isn’t a lockdown. That would truly suck.
I would be more thankful if we had a conservative Governor like south Dakota does.
We do, but Texans just don’t like to be told something we don’t like or don’t wanna do. I prefer to blame the people who went out sick and infected others than the governor, who is only trying to prevent more sick people.
It is government’s job to protect my rights. It is my job to keep myself healthy. Government should do it’s job and stay the hell out of my life as much as possible. Conservative Governor Noem understands this and Bush league Abbott does not. Abbott apparently doesn’t realize that sick people should be locked down and restricted, not healthy people. He has no business ordering healthy people to do anything. To hell with that RINO Abbott. I won’t be voting for him again in 2022.
I don’t know where you live, but we sure aren’t locked down out here in W. Texas. Yes, I have to wear a mask occasionally [but only 3 times so far, which I hate], but we’ve been to restaurants, grocery stores and pretty much wherever things are opened back up.
I live in CenTex. Bars all closed, restaraunts are kind of open. No sports, concerts, etc. Masks everywhere. Abbott has us mostly locked down because he is a bush leaguer. My thinking is that it is not his place to lock anything down just because the stupid protests/riots caused a spike. Everybody that was going to get COVID will still eventually get it. All the moron Abbott is accomplishing is helping Biden and the Rats spread their narrative.
