Summer Taylor, 24, was hit by a car on a closed freeway Saturday and later died;
= = = = = = = = = = = = =

Call me naive etc BUT reading that line would suggest that the Police or Highway Dept had put up barricades or at least had personnel directing traffic AWAY from the ramp and the driver drove around the barricades.

Then (EXCEPT those that NEVER got ‘under the fold) it explains a couple of POVs were blocking the ramp and the ‘children’ were playing on the INTERSTATE HIGHWAY...

Wouldn’t impeding traffic on a US or I route come under Federal jurisdiction since OUR money helped build the Interstate system???

AND how can the driver be charged with homicide and under a 1.5 mill bail for hitting someone that had no business being there.

It is NOT the same as speeding up and hitting a jaywalker and claiming he/she/it wasn’t in the designated crosswalk.

The person or persons that ILLEGALLY attempted to block the highway should be charged the same as the driver as they committed a ‘crime’ that had cause and effect on the driver committing a ‘crime’.

After letting this roll around in the back of my pointy head for a while, I THINK the way this happened and the reasons why are:

1. The driver is known to have recently been at other protests.

2. The interstate was closed with official barriers.

3. The presence of POVs tells me that at least some "protestors" were aware they could drive on the highway if they went up and off-ramp and made a U-turn.

4. Most probably the driver wanted to join the protest, but driving on surface streets, finding a parking place, and walking up to the highway did not fit with his entitled mentality, so

5. The driver was speeding along an empty freeway hoping to find the protest, when he came up to the POVs and went around them going too fast. They blocked his vision and he did not see the people on the highway until too late.

I do not believe for a second that the driver was an innocent person who simply blundered onto a closed freeway. I think he and a few before him had used the highway to get to the protest without having to walk.

The interstate highway system has some interesting provisions in the bill that authorized and funded it’s construction.
The bill authorized a federal highway system for the purposes of COMMERCE and DEFENSE.
Civilians are able to use the interstate system as long as such use does not interfere with the primary usage for Commerce and Defense.

I have always thought that idiots who block interstate highways should be arrested on federal charges of at least Interfering With Interstate Commerce.
That decision would have to come out of DC and I don’t know if anyone remembers the pertinent laws and regulations.

Maybe when President Trump wins re-election he can pull that trigger
