Abbott is flailing and scared. Sad, sad spectacle.
Hammer, meet nail. Damn...
And schools are supposed to open in 33 days? If they go back to online instruction, we're going to be looking at alternatives for my grandson, who will be a 4th grader.
Check that, we are looking at alternatives, commencing on Monday. I'll be informally teaching him on Texas History, which they get in 4th grade. I've got a few weekend field trips to supplement the book learning.
Abbott just lost my vote.
The majority of us that live in rural areas are ignoring los palabras de cono-it is tourist season, most of us work for ourselves-and we need the money brought here by the Summer people with 2nd homes on the river, the tourists who book rustic cabins and guest ranches, buy food, shop at our tourist traps, etc. It is obvious that tourists have brought the Wuhan virus here, since we only had 7 cases before the season started on Memorial day weekend-now there are 33-but only 9 active, no one has died, everyone recovered and most had few or no symptoms-so no hospital for most.
Many of us out here have had mild cases-no doc, no test but the obvious symptoms-and we appear to have some immunity now. Hardly anyone wears a mask-and most rural counties are doing the same-giving the finger to the control freaks and carrying on with the business of making a living. Texas has removed governors before-that was a century of more ago, but what has been done once can be done again...
