To determine whether we lost or won all you need to know is who were the two? They were Thomas and Alito.

The rest of our Supreme Court are all compromised.

>> I would not want congress to have my tax returns because they would make endless abuse of my legitimate privacy. Same for Trump’s returns out of plain old fairness. <<

"Everyone running for office should be REQUIRED to release their tax returns, it will magically stop corruption" (the signature campaign policy of Adam Andrejewski's 2010 gubernatorial campaign), has aged as well as Obama's "You think RUSSIA is a serious threat to national security? The 1980s called and they want their foreign policy back" snide remarks.

I wonder if anyone has confronted Adam about being on the "wrong side of history" on that one. I haven't heard from him or his adoring fan club in years.

And yes, I'm STILL irked they kicked Dan Proft to the curb in favor of that guy.

Yes, I saw a later thread on a piece from FNC which explained it more clearly.

From the President's attorney:

We are pleased that in the decisions issued today, the Supreme Court has temporarily blocked both Congress and New York prosecutors from obtaining the President’s financial records. We will now proceed to raise additional Constitutional and legal issues in the lower courts.

Trump’s two high court appointees, Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, joined the majority.

I bet Trump will promise to release the returns right after Biden shows up for 3 debates.

Brilliant on your part. Biden’s surrogates have been floating for days that he may not debate after all. PDJT would eat Biden alive.

President Trump should never turn over his records to anyone, without indictment. Otherwise, show cause. This ruling will effect Presidential nominees for years to come and have a devastating ramifications forever. First class nominees will never run for office. All we will have to vote for are Schiffs, Ryans, and Romneys to name a few. An indictment must be if order to force a President to release Tax Docs. If President Trump is forced to release the docs, he should resign in contempt.

SCOTUS ruled that a sitting president has to comply with an investigation. But you still have to prove a criminal investigation is warranted. In other words, you need to have evidence a law was broken before you start an investigation. The government isn’t allowed to start prying into your life and asking you for information just because they want to.

Fourth Amendment
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Note to AG Barr, SCOTUS says no one above the including Pres. Trump. Well, that is an opening to go after Obama and Biden, why should they get a free ride?

Again- I said they “can” get the records but they have to make a legal case for the reason they need the records other than just wanting them.
