How could the nation possibly have survived without the 17th Amendment? /sarc
This would be a great time for state legislatures to be able to directly replace their incompetent Senators. But the 17th Amendment ended the concept that Senators were the states’ representatives to DC and they immediately began to become instead DC’s representatives to the states.
