Texas has once again broken its single-day record for new coronavirus cases. The state reported 10,028 new cases Tuesday as officials warned that hospitals are reaching capacity.

The previous daily record was 8,260 new cases on July 4. There are now more than 200,000 cases across the state, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. The state also set a new record for single-day deaths, with 60.

I am in the Houston area. I have been back at work since late April. Nobody at work has come down with it. My step-granddaughter’s boyfriend tested positive as did his sister. However, our granddaughter tested negative. Her boyfriend and his sister both have not had symptoms even though they tested positive.

You have a cough you are reported to have Covid-19 in Texas.
If you where near someone that is reported to have it you also are reported to have it

A. I completely agree the protests spread this thing. To say otherwise is ludicrous. Protests and opening up the economy too fast with people not wearing masks.

B. Herd immunity appears to be a chimera. Tests of places that were ravaged in Spain still show only 10-15% with antibodies. The antibodies may be very short-lived. Not clear. But we’re nowhere close to herd immunity.

Nonsense. The new COVID cases are springing up in Texas due to the dark speech Donald Trump gave at Mount Rushmore. Had the speech addressed systemic racism, acknowledged the need for reparations and advocated support for the Green New Deal, no new cases would be occurring.

Instead, he lead a procession down main street USA with swastika banners flying and cheerleading to bring back slavery and maintaining white supremacy!

“the hospitals are reaching capacity because of people who put off elective procedures, getting them now, NOT because the hospitals are filled with Covid19 peeps.”

Wonder how long before the elective procedure get the back of line treatment again since the Covid-19 hospitalization rate is going up. The elective procedure being put off is bad too for some people.

Example real world: A person with inoperative tumor on the windpipe needs the pipe open up for breathing.. If the tumor closes all the way they might not be able to open again.

Not sure but I think the new treatment remdesivir requires an IV drip for 5 days. This might require a bed not sure.

In terms of disease contagion, not using a mask correctly can be literally just as bad, if not worse, than not wearing one at all. Sure protesters wore masks but many of them uncovered their faces periodically and touched their faces periodically, wiping off the sweat, pretty much defeating the point of having a mask on in the first place. I hear tons of people screaming wear a mask, but hardly anyone of the crowd mentions what I just did, which is that there’s a correct way to use it and without the correct procedures, it’s a liability.

Nothing about a change in testing.
Nothing about a change in hospitalizations.
Nothing about a change in deaths.
Nothing about the methodology in determining a positive.

A complete picture with full information would destroy their perceived power.

How many cases are asymptomatic, or mildly symptomatic?

Death are waaaaaay down. We can be certain that deaths are down, because the media doesn't mention it any more.

What would be interesting to know since Fedzilla is paying for WuFlu observation stay patients in some cases...

How many hospitalizations are for observational status WuFlu patients whose stay is being covered by Fedzilla?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I don’t even believe this for a second.

I believe the numbers. I don't believe the hype.

Texas, like Florida, has large-scale testing in progress. It makes complete sense that numbers will increase, as they're testing more people for the antibodies. A positive test for the antibodies does NOT mean you're symptomatic or in any danger. It means you HAD the virus, and your body fought it off.

We need to get numbers on total hospitalizations and total deaths. The real problem with all of this is that doctors are being urged to term ANY admission where a patient tests positive as a COVID admission. There are more people going in for elective surgeries, they're testing positive for COVID, and their "hospitalization" is being entered as a COVID hospitalization. This is disingenuous and dangerous.

I couldn't find the study Diamond and Silk reported but here is Texas correctional management health care
It does say on page 21 if you have a cough you're reported as having Covid-19. No other tests are needed

Daily deaths are really up but the numbers are still low enough to be anecdotal.

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/usa/texas/

Go to the graphs.

Interestingly, this doesn’t reflect what is happening in other states at all, with or without protests. Something weird is going on down there, just like NY and NJ in the beginning.

Good article out today arguing Wuhan never killed anybody. The cytokine storm that was triggered by the virus, however, killed folks in vulnerable demographics.

Strongly supported by evidence and approachable too. Explains why youth in general are not vulnerable, and more to the point, SHOULD become infected as soon as practical for herd immunity.

Also discussed is why anti-virals have low success, especially in late stage Wuhan, where anti-inflammatories and steriods are particularly effective.

And the denominator keeps rising, deaths dropping like a rock and have been since late April. How much longer will people be duped. Massive testing goals are only to keep fear spiked. Why no talk of the death rate plummeting? I think we all know the reason....
