I had a conversation with a friend, who is a Dem here in CA, who finally (finally!) stopped arguing with me about this issue. He even suggested I should take him to a range to teach him how to shoot. Still a stubborn stick in the mud, but that was “progress.”
I just bought 1K rounds of brass 223 from them about 2 weeks ago. It arrived in a few days. I also found some other stuff using ammoseek.com which is just an ammo search engine as they describe themselves. The price for 223 is up about 8 cents per round in the past 2 weeks. I paid 34 cents per round and it's now about 42/43 cents.
I would wait until the NEED is great enough that you will give a few dozen rounds to those who are REALLY in need. It will go farther that way.

If they don’t have ammo, it’s really dry.
Where I work only gets ammo in small batches lately and its gone as soon as it gets put out.
We usually have pallets on hand.
Weirdly, unlike last time, rimfire still seems plentiful.

Good on you for getting out and shooting. A basic pistol class and learning to tear down and re-assemble your pistol is a good thing.

Never teach a Democrat how to shoot. I get many requests to train people in my community what I know about firearms and tactics. I will not impart any of these skills and knowledge on anyone left of center.

Just ordered a case of 9mm carry ammo. It was painful, but I had to do it. What’s weird is 9mm ball bulk ammo seems to be all sold out. I hope new gun owners aren’t buying that to shoot someone, just because it’s cheap.
