my dtr lives right in Portland...not a fancy suburb....she's hoping to move home by next year....I hope she doesn't wait too long..

I hate Portland..

few redeeming qualities...known for its peculiar settings for unique eating and drinking places...that is all...

remember when a restaurant wanted a nice clean looking fresh looking modern facility ...nowadays, the grungier looking place the better I guess...

I lived in Portland for 7 years.
I could see the move to radical thinking coming to Seattle-Portland and left in 2013.

Even when I lived there, Portland was the most anti-business city on the West Coast.
Its far worse now.

I’ve financed (or provided partial financing) close to 20 restaurants in downtown Portland in the last decade and I really enjoy going there to eat. Thankfully I stopped financing restaurants altogether 3 years ago, so I’m not going to get burned with this COVID and anarchy business.

I conceal carry every time I’m in the city proper, even though it’s illegal. I stopped taking my family to stay downtown about 2 years ago and now I make sure I’m personally out of town before dark. It’s so sad because I love the industrial bridges and buildings there.

One of my best friends is a police officer and he quit Portland and joined the Beaverton police force a few years ago. He said all the people who messed up Portland are now moving to Beaverton and the other suburbs but bringing the same destructive politics with them that destroyed Portland.

So very sad...I lived in Portland in the 80s and 90s (twice)...it was a great place then...now, like you say ...bad
