Little off subject but does deal with stolen cars.
I live in a small California town in the Central Valley. One of the main North South Freeways cuts the town in half. There are only two off ramps into our town.
The police have installed cameras on the off on ramps that can read license plates. You guessed it, anyone getting off the freeway in our little town driving a stolen vehicles is soon met by one of our police officers. Reading the weekly crime report they managed to catch two or three a week.
No high speed chases since they are usually caught at one of the gas stations or a fast food place.
Problem with stolen cars these days is crime treated like jay walking. If you get it back it is generally done in by crash or abuse. Of course justice believes you are made whole by insurance if you have it or it was not valued highly in the market. If you have babied it too bad for you.
