Organizations that vigorously oppose government spending took Paycheck Protection Program loans, including some that have criticized the CARES Act, which created the PPP program, according to data released by the Small Business Administration.
Americans for Tax Reform Foundation, which says it educates taxpayers on the true cost of government and the realities of costly government programs, received between $150,000 and $300,000 in loans.
In a statement, Americans for Tax Reform claimed it never opposed the PPP program and defended the foundations decision to take government loans, which it said allowed the foundation to maintain its employees without laying anyone off after it was badly hurt by the government shutdown.
But ATR founder Grover Norquist has criticized the unemployment insurance provision of the CARES Act, which he said delays recovery, and signed a letter urging lawmakers not to approve a second stimulus bill.
The Ayn Rand Institute, named for conservative philosopher Ayn Rand, received a loan of between $350,000 and $1 million, which it called partial restitution for government-inflicted losses."

Norquist has always been a weasel.
He’s been a major proponent of cheap labor importation and Islamic immigration.

So if the gov completely shuts down your business, as a “conservative”, you do what?
I am opposed to excessive government spending. And opposed to most taxation. But I gladly took the PPP loan. I view it as getting back taxes stolen from me, and I will spend it much more wisely than Congress.
...and Pelosi husband? Did i read that earlier??
“Do as I say, not as I do!”
ARI are mostly Biden sellouts. Yaron Brook says he’s more worried about right-wing fascism.
I agree. Government shuts you down, it’s a taking, and it should be compensated somehow.
I oppose deficit spending but gladly accepted my $1200 check. Does that make me a hypocrite? Maybe, but so what?
Yep
My kids are biracial. I object to racial preferences, but the LIEberalz have made it the law of the land. So, I don’t like the rules, but if that’s what the law of the land is, then I tell my kids to use the rules to win - just like everyone else. Why should my kids be disadvantaged by refusing to use unjust rules to their advantage? Believe me, I saw middle class minorities fight to get money and college placements for the disadvantaged, thus depriving a financially disadvantaged person from that slot. The used the unfair rule to their advantage.
Same thing goes for conservative groups. If they object to the giveaway philosophically, and they argue against it, but the giveaway passes into law - then, the giveaway is law. Follow the law, and sign up. Tell everyone that the giveaway is a waste of money, and show everyone how you’re getting it! If people object, tell them to stop voting for LIEberalz and giveaways.
Take what you can get. In this case, it is our money (theirs too). Both of those outfits have hired help so perhaps those folks are better off. My wife and I both took the $1200 and did so without shame. We invested it in munitions and expect a fine return.
But, Media sMatters getting 2 million is no biggie
If a business that pays taxes, I see no reason why it shouldn’t apply for PPP. I do find it galling that institutions like Harvard, that have deep wells of capital already and (elected and unelected) officials that look out for them in The Swamp, play “poor me” and jump on PPP ahead of small businesses whose existences really are jeapordized by the lockdown.

So these businesses are supposed to buckle under while the Marxists force them out of business.
Absolutely. But keep in mind that the government is “compensating” us with our own money.

unless the government exempted them from paying taxes, why shouldn’t they get what they are entitled to under the law?
I don’t blame them. Milton Friedman was criticized for taking government student loans, but he said that he disagreed with the programs, but as long as they exist, he would be a fool not to use them. This is why government programs always cost more than promised.
