People have long debated whether Harvard is primarily selling education, connections or credentials. Well, for now, they’re primarily selling credentials. Harvard is a community college with a snooty, yet highly over-rated med school.

If it is the knowledge that you get from a Harvard education, then auditing is worthwhile. If it the credential, then it’s a waste of time. I think that you can audit all classes from MIT. If you are interested in STEM education, MIT might be the way to go.

It would never occur to Harvard to use some of the interest piling up on its more than $40,000,000,000 (that’s forty Billion dollars) endowment to reduce tuition while students are basically limited to watching podcasts.
