Pittsburgh’s Phantom Pandemic, IV — Numbers you need to know

Everyone in Allegheny County — especially the local media — needs to know that number.

0.

That’s how many people in Allegheny County under 20 years of age have died of Covid-19 — in four months.

Here’s another number you should know — one that the local panic media might want to mention now and then in their breathless daily stories about the “alarming” rise of new positive Covid-19 cases reported among the young:

That’s how many of Allegheny County’s 1.3 million people under age 60 have died of (and/or with) the coronavirus. Total. In four months. For the math impaired, that’s 1 death a week.

If you think the tragic deaths of those 12 youngish people justified shutting down most of the economic and social life of the county for three months, or justify shutting it down for one more day, then you’re ready for a brilliant career in politics or what’s left of the legacy media.

Pittsburgh, the city the pandemic barely visited.

While we’re at it, here are two other numbers you should know that provide what journalists call ‘perspective’ or ‘context.’

187 and 147.

187 is the official total of C-19 deaths in the county, as of July 3. In four months. 187 tragedies. (81 percent were age 70 or older. Nearly everyone was already very sick or obese.)

147 is the official total of those 187 deaths that occurred in nursing homes and long-term care homes.

For the math impaired, that means 78 percent of C-19 deaths in the county occurred in nursing home/care facilities — almost twice the nationwide average, btw.

To put it differently, that means 40 of the people who died of C-19 in Allegheny County since the war on the coronavirus was declared in March DID NOT reside in a nursing home or care facility.

A tip to the journalists running the local print and electronic media: That’s pretty scandalous.

In your daily reports of ‘alarming’ spikes in new infections, you might want to stress that the most dangerous place to be in Allegheny County has been a nursing home, not a crowded singles bar or a backyard cookout for more than 10 family members.

And instead of doing any more ‘shame’ stories about people not wearing masks when they serve you a pizza or take out their trash, the local media might want to question the people in charge a little more aggressively and do some investigative journalism.

Here are the county numbers from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, as of July 3:

Deaths by age:

• 20-29: 1 (1%)

• 40-49: 2 (1%)

• 50-59: 9 (5%)

• 60-69: 23 (12%)

• 70 and over: 152 (81%)

Cases by gender:

• Female: 1,711 (52%)

• Male: 1,569 (48%)

Deaths by gender:

• Female: 111 (59%)

• Male: 76 (41%)

Nursing and personal care homes:

• 46 facilities, 540 cases among residents, 161 cases among employees, 147 deaths (no change)

187 total deaths out of 1.2 million. The vast majority over age 70, and the bulk of those in nursing homes.

Yet our Governor has shut down bars and restaurants and ordered us to wear masks. This is a scam and it needs to start being called out.

The numbers in Washington state look much like Pittsburgh.

Deaths under age 20 - 0%

Deaths under age 40 - 1%

Deaths over age 60 - 89%

Protect the aged and the infirm.

Everyone else can handle the risks in their own chosen way.

A report came out from NPR of all places that the mortality rate for the coronavirus is about to drop below the CDC’s official threshold for what constitutes an epidemic.

Wonder how they’re gonna manipulate that?

We were told that males were much more likely to die, but in Allegheny County that appears to not be the case.

Without digging into the numbers my sense is it’s because of the nursing homes. More elderly women in the homes than men.

A couple days ago the Seattle Times lead story was that COVID deaths may have been under counted by 28%.

The Political Left never sleeps - even when they are winning, they are still trying crush us.

They've jacked up the confirmed cases numbers by testing everyone they can, and by counting every positive test result as a new case, even every repeated test on the same person trying to get two negatives in a row to be pronounced "cured".

Nearly 12 million cases world wide FEAR!!!

More cases in the denominator with a unfakeable number of dead bodies equals a lower fatality rate.

Even counting everyone who dies with COVID, not just those who die of COVID can only jack that number up so much.

Worse, deliberate murder of grannie and aunt Edna by forcing infected patients into nursing homes can only do so much.

The reported fatality rate is plummeting, bye-bye fear porn.

Bring Out Your Dead
