Reeks of nepotism. How does a 2nd-term Representative become the 3rd ranked Representative? [short answer: Daddy.] <<
Yep, you nailed it. If her name was "Liz Smith", nobody would give a crap what the second term congresswoman from Wyoming has to say about anything, let alone consider her for a top job in the GOP leadership.
I'm glad to see 90% of the FReepers who backed this goofball and laughably tried to sell her as the "anti-establishment Tea Party candidate" now have buyer's remorse.
And it's also good to see she has a primary challenger, but now that she's an entrenched incumbent it will be a hell of a time trying to get rid of her.

Just keep her in that seat and don’t let her out of the room
And don’t let any Idaho Simpsons get elected.

If her name was Smith she wouldn’t be in Congress at all.
However, while no one else got it in the 2nd term, JC Watts made it to House Conference Chair in his third term, as did his predecessor, John Boehner.

The other problem with Wyoming is that they have open primaries. In effect the democrats in Wyoming queer the deal for real conservatives by always voting for the most liberal Republican in a primary.
