Landslide at Myanmar jade mine kills at least 113 people [photo in comment #1]

Rescue workers say at least 113 people have been killed in a landslide at a jade mining site in northern Myanmar. At least another five people have been injured in Thursday’s accident, said Khin Maung Win, chairman of Thingaha rescue group working at the site now.

Death toll from the landslide at a jade mine in northern Myanmar has gone up to 123,

Than Hlaing, a member of a local civil society group helping in the aftermath of the disaster, said those killed were informal workers scavenging the waste left by a larger mining company.

“There’s no hope for the families to get compensation as they were freelance miners,” she said. “I don’t see any route to escape this kind of cycle. People take risks, go into landfills, as they have no choice.”

Jade emits radiation at the same frequency as Chi. NASA worked with China to create jade-infused fabric to line space suits because the proximity of the Chi causes blood to flow and distribute warmth. There are a couple of other gemstones that have the same qualities.
