Roberts always looks like he’s constipated. I never liked him. I don’t know what it is but I always get a feeling about someone that I don’t like from the beginning and I’m usually right. Actually all the time.

Chief Justice Roberts' primary concern is his "legacy." The most important thing to him is that no one in the future ever be able to say, "It was the Roberts court that ended X, Y, or Z." I'm completely serious. That is his overriding legal philosophy at this point in his life; Maintaining the respect of the establishment. Roberts is just as arrogant as Trump

Trump is not of the establishment and so he will get nothing he wants from John Roberts. Roberts has sent this message time and time again. This time he went so far as to disagree with his 2016 self in order to screw Trump over. He will continue to do so until one of them is gone.

Roberts is just as arrogant as Trump but in an 'aw shucks' kind of way; He has an extremely high opinion of his own humility.
