In this case, no, he’s not.

NYC’s new budget is a lot of smoke and mirrors. Without a green eyeshade guy to go over it with a fine tooth comb, I defy anyone to know what’s being spent where.

But that’s the idea.

Suffice it to say that while the NYPD got screwed, they didn’t get screwed to the tune of a billion bucks.

I’m sure all the pols are hoping the mob will have moved on by the time anyone figures this out.

Given Covid and BLM activities of the last 90 days, NYC is probably close to bankrupt as of right now. Tax revenues from tourism, restaurants and hospitality venues are virtually nonexistent, high unemployment which means much lower city income tax revenue, city property taxes will be in free fall as commercial buildings get repriced downward, ditto retail sales taxes, maximum use of police paid overtime for protests, both airports are dead and so no taxi, limo, Uber taxes etc. They’ll be floating bonds any month now as soon as the City fathers see the financials, but the Street will make them pay. Waiting for Moody’s to awaken.
