Fourth of July revelers have been advised to stay away from Los Angeles County beaches as coronavirus cases skyrocketed.
The temporary closures affects all beaches, piers, parking lots, beach bike paths, and beach access points beginning on Friday at 12:01 a.m., and lasting through 5 a.m. on Monday, L.A. County officials announced.
Fireworks displays are also off-limits over the weekend in an effort to prevent gathering.

At a personal level, I don’t really have to. I’m not white - other than by being an IT guy that hides from the sun. :P
If you’re an IT guy, you need the Sun.
Your Vitamin D levels are probably nil. :)
Besides, go scope some hotties.
Um, yes, deaths are being reported. Thing is, these rioters tend to be younger and more able to fight off the virus or recover if it gets to the ventilator stage.
Here are the Dallas County, Texas stats directly: https://www.dallascounty.org/Assets/uploads/docs/hhs/2019-nCoV/C-19-risklevelmgmt/062620-DallasCounty-COVID-19-Hospitalization-Data.pdf
There are some (a few) rather hot women in IT these days, actually. Don’t necessarily have to go out to find them. :P They also like hiding from the sun.
I consume much Vitamin D in other forms and avoid the Evil Yellow Daystar Thingy. :P
I learned a new word on another thread this morning. Flocculent. Confuse everyone with a Down with beach flocculence sign. :)
I wonder if internal polls are showing more support for republican candidates than the leftist states anticipated, putting some congressional or local races at risk of flipping. Thus the need for inciting panic in the sheep.
Do these new cases have more than the sniffles?
Do they just assume that someone with pneumonia had the flu?
“So where are 2 million people supposed to park?”
One idea is to have a desinated driver who would drop off folks at the beach. I was never much for laying in the sun and majority oif times I went would be early a.m. when beach is mostly deserted save a few dog walkers.
I used to drop my family off and come back and get them later on. No patkong problem.
He came through last week. Pointed out I didn’t eat people and gave character references, he left. :P
Of course with increased testing there will be increased cases found but from your chart it appears froms the number of deaths shown the death rate is actually down.
Bump
I spent sometime near Torrence Beach a few years ago. There was big public parking lot at the beach. If they close it down, beach goers could park in nearby neighborhoods. People would have to be in relatively good health since there are rather steep inclines to get to get back to the cars..
His officers will only enforce the closing parking lots, the sheriff said.
____________________________
simple- protest the parking lot closure
Drive over curbs into the lots
Politely remove the barricades
Surround tow trucks if they appear
Declare a beach free parking zone!
LOL. Just don't tell them the BLM on your sign stands for "Beach Loitering Matters". ;-)
Keep in mind that the stats I linked are specific to my county here in Texas and should not be extrapolated to the rest of the country.
The specific stats that are important to track out of all that (if you want to figure out what’s going on at a glance) are ICU admittance (because you just *don’t* get admitted to ICU unless it really is serious, unlike general hospital admission), lab-verified ICU admitted COVID-19 cases, ICU bed availability and lab-verified COVID-19 deaths.
For Dallas County, the lab-confirmed COVID-19 ICU admittances (note that Dallas breaks out suspected versus confirmed) exceeded peak 2018-2019 flu season ICU admittances months back. Deaths have also exceeded 2018-2019 flu fatalities, albeit not by gigantic margins. So, **in Dallas County,** it has demonstrably been worse than the average flu. However, it hasn’t been the 1918 Spanish flu yet, nor are we seeing the disaster NYC is showing. BLM ‘protests’ nee riots didn’t really get widespread in Dallas either, so the related spikes aren’t as bad as Houston (to name one example).
I won’t tell them if you don’t. :D
It is ripe for mass insubordination. We can’t have people enjoying their Independence Day! Too much patriotism.
These people need to learn that we’re done being treated like children and they’ve no authority to strip us of our rights over a virus that is nothing like what was feared. Your ‘orders’ aren’t law and don’t apply to me.
I was at the beach in Ventura last weekend with my 13 year old grandson and his friend. Tons of people there. Everyone was staying in their own small groups.
Now, shut up and put on your mask.
