At the bottom: "Maggie Haberman and Katie Benner contributed reporting." So it took 5 of them to write this.
I stopped reading after this absurd sentence:
“Ultimately, Mr. Barr directed the department to drop the charge, one of his numerous steps undercutting the work of the Russia investigation and the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III.”
I don’t waste time anymore with the Slime. Their articles are not about truth but their rabid left wing agenda. It’s been that way since Walter Duranty.
UTMOST CONFIDENTIALITY? Lol...who LEAKED?
4th word, firebrand, gave it away as MSM article.
Do these writers believe what they are writing or do they get drunk and turn it into a laugh fest? I kind of hope they are hooting it up when they write this stuff. I might slightly respect them if they were cracking jokes and laughing
The story is so full of half truths, misinformation and out right slander that I clicked out of it before getting to the halfway point.
FIVE authors
This second paragraph from the article is the entire pretense that follows, a hit piece pretending to be journalism by three muldoons who think that they have parachuted behind enemy line to strike down the evil doers and expose what the Trump people have done.
There was a secret letter, I tell you! This single super secret letter to the corrupt Attorney General was all it was required to thwart justice and prevent President Obama, Vice President Biden, James Comey, Peter Strvok, Sally Yates, and Susan Rice from sending LTG Flynn to prison from the rest of his life where he deserved to be. This sort of fiction continues throughout the piece, avoiding facts whenever possible and distort them when required. In the midst of a very long history of New York Times hit pieces, this is one of the worst that I have ever seen.
The pretense is their recovery of a letter from Sidney Powell to Attorney General Barr. This letter was a heads up, a professional courtesy used by defense counsels to inform the prosecutor that the case in question is a bad case, and has the potential to cause considerable harm and embarrassment to the government. Defense Counsels, especially good ones, do this when warranted. And this was a really bad case. A frame up directed by the President, unsupported by facts or law, and with serious misconduct by the FBI. Throw in the conflicts of interest and other misconduct by Flynn's original counsel, Covington, this thing would become the poster child for the campaign against an out of control Department of Justice and FBI.
It's hard to tell if our three derring do journalists did any research, probably not. They could have gotten what they needed by sharing a few beers with the key hatchet men from the DNC. They completely ignore the evidence proving that the government fabricated the entire case, invented or changed evidence, lied to everyone except the guy at the piano bar, and failed to provide the defense with required discovery. They accuse the Flynn Defense team of illegal and unethical tricks and political maneuveing to get a solid case thrown out to save a friend of Trump.
Unfortunately for these morons, more evidence has surfaced since they wrote this "Pulitzer Prize" entry. They clearly don't know the Constitution, don't know the law, haven't read the briefs by Sidney Powell and the U.S. Solicitor General and clearly did not read the decision by the Circuit Court panel. Powell has uncovered and documented one of the biggest abuse of power in the history of these U.S. and they are the three blind men tapping down Pennsylvania Avenue. The New York Times will reward them handsomely.
They make it sound as if providing the defense evidence that shows her client is innocent is somehow wrong.
