How many of these “US citizens” are anchor babies who are US citizens only because their Mexican mothers crossed the border into the US to have a baby?

They did not say “US Citizens”, they said Americans. In Spanish, anyone from any country in the Western Hemisphere can say “soy Americano” truthfully, because if you are from North America, then “soy de norte american” and from South America, “soy de sud america”

In 1994 I was on a business trip to Mexico City and I was challenged by the client as to "why do you call yourselves Americans" stating that they were Americans too, because the whole continent was considered, "America".
Concious of my business responsibilities and not wanting to anger him, I told him that our countries name was "The United States of America" and that "United Staters" didn't quiet sound right.
