Never understood how Willie Nelson, who can’t sing or play guitar, became so famous.

I believe it has always been about his unique voice. He did an album of old standards and did them justice. Then there is his beat up guitar with its own sound. Always figured him to be an old hippie liberal, but like many of his songs. Now he's just another old progressive putz. He couldn't just shut up and play.

My dad was/is a big fan, granted, we differ politically. Have seen him in concert a couple of times, last time with my dad. I think his draw was that his songs always told a coherent story. Current artists sing things like “dance in the bed of my pickup truck” five times.

Willie’s voice is GONE - last concert he talked his way through most of the numbers.

Because his audience was so dang high on pot and lsd even a screaming hyena sounded cool to them. :)

There's way better weed now and I think he's broke so that's how that goes. Maybe old Joe can hook him up with a nice pot store. LOL

Everybody loved him. He knew every coke and grass dealer in every city he played. His whole tour schedule was set up that way. (semi-sark)

Has the rest of Willie’s brain gone up in smoke?

He inspires potheads.

He wrote some pretty memorable songs waaaay back in the day...but forever he has been a very poor performer, and as you say, a crappy guitarist.
