“Throwbacks was the word”
Hey. Some of us have our older genes expressed.
“Hey. Some of us have our older genes expressed.”
LOL
I have read that geneticists say we have a ton of genes in our genome that do nothing, as far as they can tell. It may be that the “neanderthal” genes are still there, but for whatever reason do not get activated, with most people. LOL
That possibility comes from the other thing geneticists have learned - epigenetics. Some genes are “triggered” to activate or inactivate due to chemical “triggers” that arise in the environment around the cell. The source of the trigger can be environmental - entering from outside the body - or it can be created by some other gene that for some reason (stress hormones???, energy wavelengths other than light - UV, gama, ect, or who knows what) starts making a chemical that sends the trigger to a gene to “wake up” or “go to sleep”. The geneticists have seen it happen in some particular occasions and have been studying it to see what they can learn by trying various ways to make it happen.
Maybe there were “earth changes” that provided the triggers for the mass inactivation of “neanderthal” genes and the mass activation of “homosapien” genes? Or maybe that’s stretching the concepts too much.
