A dear friend of mine was an Austin cop but wisely is now an officer in the Texas National Guard. This man is a right wing conservative.
When he was a cop he obeyed the rules for cops exactly. His political beliefs had nothing and I mean absolutely nothing to do with the way he enforced the law. He was a damn good cop. If that man arrested me I assure you I needed arresting.
I forgot to add a notation about another cop friend of mine, not the Austin PD. This dude was a smooth talker. He was of course well armed and adept with arms. He would put on his country boy good guy accent and talk the bad guy into hand cuffs without violence. He was much proud of this ability. He also was a big boy that could kick your ass if needed.
