I wonder if he was released under one of the new liberal soft on crime policies, like “bail no longer required”, or “Get out of jail free for COVID-19”.
I also wonder what the relationship was between the victim’s family and the shooter. Maybe he was gunning for the driver (which might have been predictable, from the nature of the original crime that had him in jail).
A friend in the NYC justice system has lots of horror stories about their new “no bail” policy, where perps are released while their blood is still boiling over a conflict, and they go right back after the person they were fighting with, or even continue with a psychotic violent spree.
