COVID-19 cases are spiking across Southern and Western states just as rising summer temperatures are drawing people indoors to seek relief in the air conditioning. But can air conditioning facilitate the spread of the coronavirus?
The question comes as states are allowing indoor businesses to reopen, as well as allow increasingly large gatherings of people. But concerns about air conditioning are making their way into reopening policies in some states.

“There’s some reports that malls, bars, certain social clubs with air conditioning, that air conditioning may not be cleansing the air of the virus, just recirculating the air with the virus.” New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in a briefing Wednesday. Malls and gyms will not be a part of New York’s phase four reopening because of this concern.

Cuomo would like us to believe that the virus is spreading in the ac units as it did Philadelphia. Viruses need a host to "reproduce" where bacterium would find the warm side of an ac a very good climate. I believe that ac would be an inefficient way of spreading viruses. Except for the very smallest of rooms (bedrooms).
I do not sleep with ac. It leaves me with soar throat and swollen sinuses in the A.M. certainly not a virus.
NOT GET MY AC. We didn’t have as kids, we slept on pallets in the long hall all 4 of us with a box fan blowing on us, all windows open, screen doors to, different safer time. Today we need AC as we lock everything down all the time now.
Install a UVC light in the system, it will destroy the virus particles.
Maybe not “lots”. There are some pretty efficient air-to-air heat exchangers, if it is with the fixed cost price.
I remember when highly efficient housing was the rage, and they realized we would kill people with gassing from various products, because we were not exchanging enough air. So they started putting air-to-air exchangers in the houses, to bring in fresh air.
Technically, the process of heat transfer is energy-free; the cost is in making it efficient enough to be useful.
You want riots Democrats????? Try turning off the A/C in the South..... YOU WILL HAVE AN ALL OUT WAR WITHIN ONE HOUR!
