A Minnesota neighborhood where many residents vowed not to call the cops on people in their community following the death of George Floyd, are finding it difficult to come up with alternatives after about 300 homeless people have set up camp in a local park.

Those who live nearby where Floyd was killed at the hands of cops on May 25 welcomed dozens of tents to Powderhorn Park while the displaced people look for permanent accommodation, urging officials not to evict them for now.

But in the past two weeks since they've been using the open space, people living near the park have complained about a heavy flow of traffic keep them up at night as drug dealers. Two people in the encampment have already been taken away in ambulances after overdosing.

I have friends who live in the Powderhorn neighborhood and this isn’t really much different than other summers. City pushes the homeless out of more visible areas and they move into the parks.

Shit, the cops who used to respond to these calls are now LIVING in these homeless camps. How’s that whole Defund The Police thing working out for ya, Minneapolis?

I really do have pity for the homeless. I know what 2008 did to me, economically. And then, the “booming economy” of the Lying Kenyan.

But now they have drug addicts and (more than likely) some roving drug dealers. Time to call Nancy Pelosi and maybe Al Sharpton. That should work.

I guess noble gestures are fine until the drama comes to your neighborhood

I’m familiar with that park. There was a fun cyclocross race there which was eventually shut down by some activist Karen back in 2008. This was an event (Park permit and USACycling sanction) that the neighborhood liked to watch, but the Karens objected to too much fun. The park instead was to be trashed by drug dealers and the annual May Day rallies. No telling what the skinnies are doing there now, I left Minnestoopid in 2011 never to return.

People are just dumb who make decisions and do not weigh the end result first.

Happens too often.

There are consequences to every act.. good or bad.. and some of those consequences can alter your life forever.
