Surgical masks are not designed to keep out aerosol droplets. They are designed to keep your surgeon or nail girl or other wearers from spreading larger droplets and to keep the environment sterile or sanitized. They are also not worn all the time but only when their use is called for.
As for respirators. Those are designed to keep a person from breathing in small aerosol particles such as found in certain vapors. They also are not worn all the time. But there can certainly be adverse health effects if worn for an extended period of time.
Agreed, but I thought it was nice to see all those drops in reported new cases instead of more spiking. In Colorado our heavy spike period lasted 6 days, and that includes 3 days of falling cases after the peak.
Except for Florida, they went up a lot.
I hope the peaks are as short in these states as they have been in most others. We’ll know in a week.

The reason we’re seeing the (expected) increase is because we keep shielding people with masks, (anti)-social “distancing” (which actions are ineffective for the most part anyway), and forced house arrest. By implementing and expanding these damnable commands we’re not “stopping the spread” of the Chinese flu, we’re just prolonging it (and slowing down the economic and social recovery, and maintaining an increasingly irrational level of fear, distrust and anger among American citizens as well) ... no doubt prolonging “the spread” and the ongoing “need” for the Democrat/Left governors’ diktats right up to the first Tuesday in November!

Mandatory masking in the EU - enforced via fines in the hundreds of dollars per incident - has coincided with death counts and new cases coming down significantly. In the Orient (i.e. South Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore & Taiwan), almost universal masking seems also to have coincided with low case and death counts, which were never high to begin with. Their per capita death numbers from the Wuhan Flu are literally less than 1/10 of US levels. And their approach so far has been almost no lockdowns, but mandatory masking.
