It wouldn't be, but they would be contained to the people in their own states. A national poll that only interviews a few dozen per state dilutes the effect of the Electoral College in representing who is really leading race.
Also, the splits within each state are unique to that state, and are difficult to mimic in a national poll with so few in-state samples to use as differentiators.
