Chomsky styles himself a linguist. At first I somewhat admired him. Then I saw that him thinking of himself as a linguist made him see himself as a bit above the pedestrian human plane.

The last I remember of Chomsky is his deciding to discover the general principles behind every language on earth. Great project, Noam. Spend the rest of your pointless life on that; you will never succeed! The reason is that that task is spiritual and you are too smart to stoop to pursuing that.
