Yes, it could have been a kreh loop knot that looks similar to a noose slip knot, but the pics I've seen it looks like a simple bowline (bolin) knot. Either way, no mech in these garages/bays would put a slip knot at the end of a convenience rope. As I've said, the point of these loops are for a better grip for the hands of oily/greasy mechs.
