Two Tampa police officers were injured early Saturday after a crowd of hundreds surrounded a group of officers in an "ambush," the Tampa police chief said.
Officers were responding to a report of shots fired and a possible gunshot victim at an intersection near the Ybor City neighborhood around 1 a.m., Chief Brian Duggan told reporters Monday. A crowd of hundreds was at the scene when police arrived.

It is time for patriots to be vetted and deputized by the hundreds so they can support proper law enforcement. Not necessarily with lethal powers, but stuning powers.

There is literally no practical way to stop this sort of thing. Notice that I said “practical” there. Because no mayor - especially a Democrat - is going to order the police to fire a volley into the crowd. That’s just the stuff of dreams.
So those areas will simply become no-go zones. I’m usually not in favor of politicians going on junkets. But I’ll make an exception in this case. The mayor of Tampa should travel to Paris to observe those mature no-go zones.

I agree, but it would take the Sheriff of a county to deputized. So what about a massive e-mail/phone effort to those Sheriffs to consider such an option?
Ybor City is a bad section of Tampa to be in from 1:00 AM till sunlight. The place becomes overrun with gangbangers. It’s a nightclub restaurant scene that abuts very sketchy neighborhoods.
In this environment, the police should have either waited or gone in with cops to check out the scene and had back-up at the ready for the cops that went into the crowd to survey the situation.
Tampa is a dem run city with a history of ineffective police leadership. We live in an unincorporated outer burb of Tampa that is under the county Sheriffs. This was a purposeful decision.
I have three different police flashlight style stun guns. I taught my daughters how to use them and in what situations.
One of them actually lives in Tampa.
