With more than a dozen Supreme Court decisions still pending before the session is scheduled to close at the end of the month, it is looking more and more likely the term will be extended into July a rare occurrence for the justices.
.....
Some of the most eyed cases still pending include challenges on the power of congressional subpoenas, restrictions on abortion providers and tests to the limits of religious liberty. ... Trumps finances
Abortion:
In Russo v. June Medical Services LLC, the high court is considering whether Louisiana is violating constitutional rights ... by requiring doctors performing abortions to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals.

Oh googy googy goody!! MORE time for Roberts & Co. to jack-hammer at the foundation of our country
Ginsberg and Biden together would get lost in a grain silo.
good. take all the time you need black robes. can’t wait for more “conservative” decisions from roberts, gorsuch and co.
the good thing is that at this point, to regular people, you black robes are just another part of the gov’t we either ignore or have to work around. you’re irrelevant. we look to a Higher Power for Justice at this point.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg should do America a huge favor: write a unanimous opinion to uphold the right to life for unborn American babies and then retire, allowing Trump to name her replacement.
Termites in the timbers.

The (bulk of) cases are/seem to be the ones that progressives want decided in their favor.
The rare occurrence of extending the term, keeps team Ruth BG, who very likely is dying, there until these cases are decided.
They need to extend the term, for these causes/cases, with an election on the horizon, and a replacement for Ruth BG inevitable.
Yeah, lets see what other cases they can botch this year.
Gorsuch, we don’t need any more surprises.
Roberts won’t allow a 5-4 Conservative Victory in the abortion case.
The lazy court musters enough energy to do as much damage as possible this session.
On Thursday, the court will release opinions starting at 10 a.m. The justices will also hold their June 25 conference.”

If his next SCOTUS appointment is as "good" as his first two "orignalist" judges, it will STILL be on hold.
The other two cases are VERY iffy, and I'd guess a leftist victory if I had to bet on it.
If there was a vote tomorrow to overrule Roe vs. Wade or gay "marriage", the vote would be 6-3 to uphold it (Alito, Thomas, and Kavanaugh dissenting and voting to overturn). Gorsuch would vote with the leftist bloc and issue a "concurrance" stating he's doing so for different reasons. Roberts would probably vote to overturn Roe v. Wade, but uphold homosexual "marriage".
But Kavanaugh will probably ALSO end up on the side of the leftists now and then.
If Roberts votes against the Little Sisters of the Poor it will be a decisive vote for him.
Thurs could be a horrible historic day if Gorsuch comes up with another twisted, psychotic ruling.
I don’t see Roberts overturning Roe on a 5-4 vote. He might be the 6th vote for a 6-3. Either way, it’s not worth the backlash, if it’s the wrong circumstances.
The Electoral college cases are a must read. They could discuss it amongst themselves for hours. I’m sure they wish they had more time on that one.
The ONLY evidence that Gorsuch was a "pro-life judge in the Scalia mold" was the White House SAID he was, but numerous FReepers took that as gospel truth and hailed the appointment of Gorsuch from the moment he was announced, heaping praise on Trump's "accomplishment" of giving us a "proven originalist judge" from his list, and laughed off/shouted down any naysayers who pointed out evidence showing otherwise about Gorsuch.
Roberts, of course, has sadly turned out to be much more of a Warren Burger type judge (a weak, unless "Chief Justice" who is mildly conservative but lets the liberal bloc of the court run rogue and easily caves to them). Thankfully I don't think he's reached the level of Ann Coulter predicting he'd be "another Souter", but he will if he votes against Little Sisters of the Poor. I don't think he will (it would be TOTALLY at odds his background) but after Obamacare I can unfortunately never say never about Roberts.
Gorsuch is exactly what I predicted he would be: a Sandra Day O'Connor type justice. Cast decent votes with the GOP most of the time, but he is simply NOT a social conservative and will side with the left on numerous important "landmark" social cases.
Again, the lesson to be learned from all this is DON'T blindly support ANY "R" judge simply because an "R" President SAYS the judge will be a "home run for conservatives". In fact, that lesson should have been obvious decades ago, but FReepers drinking the "so-and-so judge SAYS he is a strict constructionist and his judicial philosophy is not to legislate from the bench, so that means his background and personal views don't matter at all and he is magically guaranteed to vote the way we want" kool-aid.
I think that lesson has STILL fallen on deaf ears, so I expect the pattern of "originalist" judges who turn into liberal activists to continue.
And you will note that RAT presidents expect ideological purity from their nominees. Clinton appointed Darth Bader Ginsburg is the first place because she was some radical feminazi lawyer for the ACLU, rather that plucking some obscure judge from a very conservative church who promised Clinton "my judicial philosophy is a living, breathing constitution if you'll give me a lifetime job on SCOTUS for saying that"
