Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan said Monday that Seattle police will be returning to its abandoned East Precinct building “peacefully and in the near future,” following a weekend in which three men were shot in the protest area that has emerged around the building.

SEATTLE — Mayor Jenny Durkan said Monday that Seattle police would return to the East Precinct in the near future after two shootings — one of them fatal — in the CHOP this weekend.
Durkan said at a news conference Monday that officials are working with the community to bring the “Capitol Hill Occupied Protest” zone to an end after two weeks.
The mayor said the violence was distracting from changes sought by thousands of peaceful protesters seeking to address racial inequity and police brutality.

Mayor Jacob Frey said the fresh violence “only compounds our grief” over Floyd’s death.
“The lawlessness serves no purpose and it won’t be tolerated,” he said. “Local residents deserve better.”
Frey called the recent shootings “totally a distraction from the work we need on the structural police reforms we need to do.”

“Peacefully” is likely a euphemism for “unarmed.”
I wonder how much Trump making fun of the incompetent and idiot mayor had to do with her decision.
The acne scarred dyke with a whose face is a permanent rictus of repulsion had some sort of press conference this afternoon on local TV - the few minutes I could stomach was a lecture about LGTBQWXYZ being very important.....blah.....blah...
