Davenport police said Friday they had charged a man with murder in the death of a woman who was shot on May 31 as she got into her car to leave a protest.
Police charged Parker Belz, 21, of Davenport with first-degree murder in the death of Italia Marie Kelly, 22.

No death penalty in Iowa...If this murder happened in Missouri, this guy would have been eligible for death penalty...

Three different arrests, and all he got was probation. Seriously, a misdemeanor charge for assaulting a police officer. WTF?? He’s also had misdemeanor convictions for marijuana possession and driving while his license is revoked. How many fricking misdemeanors do you have to get before you’re moved up into the felony bracket. Iowa doesn’t have a habitual offender/3 strikes you’re out law. Maybe if they did, this girl would still be alive.
Now he’s facing life in prison - too late for this young woman, though. :-(

Impossible. Marijuana keeps the toker from criminal activity. It only affects the voices in your head.

Thanks for the link, what a strange case. Why would this guy walk up and shoot a woman in the back? How close was he to the victim when the shot was fired? How many shots were fired? Was this woman hit by a stray round or did he walk up and shoot her?
Absolutely not saying he didn’t do it, it’s just not the type of scenario that typically plays out at the scene of a riot. And at a riot with multiple shots being fired, a bystander could be hit by a random bullet, which I don’t think is a 1st degree murder charge. Any info on if they knew each other?
Where have you been? Read the post oh here by those extolling the benefits and virtues of marijuana. Using it can raise the dead, give the blind their sight, make the lame walk. Its virtues are endless and the half has not been told. And that is just on Free Republic.
