This is true.
Bump
clonazepam is a very addictive drug, hard to get off of.
A friend just finished withdraw, took her 3 years, she is now on PRN only, started at I think 6mg.
Really? You actually think that when you and a random black person walk into a store one after another, that the two of you are NOT treated in any way differently?
You actually believe that people who tend to be in power tend to view white people more favorably than black people, on a subconscious level, and that they often consciously work to overcome this bias?
I still don’t get why people get upset to find that bias is in their favor, like it is their fault.
When I was young, I read a book “Black Like Me”. I don’t think it is in favor, but I remember learning a lot about how people perceive others.
And as I said in my previous note, it isn’t just skin shade, there are so many physical characteristics that tend to lead to bias, such as height.
Even Jesse Jackson admitted it....
“There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery. Then (I) look around and see someone white and feel relieved.”
I did not say whether any or all biases are good or bad, just that they exist. As you point out, Jesse Jackson made his bias public, and nobody was surprised by it.
Now, imagine you are a black person who is NOT a criminal, and you notice that everybody, including well-dressed black people, walk to the other side of the street when they see you coming?
THAT, my friend, is the bias I am talking about. The daily grind where, because of your skin color, people treat you differently. And it isn’t YOUR fault that blacks commit more crime, are more likely to assault someone, or kill someone. That black person is not you.
Bias is when a white woman screams “go back to your home country” to an hispanic-looking man who is 3rd-generation american.
Three YEARS? Good lord.
The damn drug seems to have almost killed Jordan Peterson. I'm not sure his daughter's diet therapy has helped.
It is good to have him writing again.
