All that masking in Asian countries is not new-MrT5 was TDY to Japan and Hong Kong in the early 1990’s-there were mask wearers all over in the cities-but not because of a virus-they were not wanting to breathe the stinking, polluted air-especially if they had asthma, etc-so those people have been wearing masks for the better part of 30 years when they go out, virus or no virus-I think comparing that to insisting Americans wearing masks will protect them from a virus is apples to oranges...

The reality is well over 1/2 of deaths in this country are from nursing homes and in places like New York the deaths can be laid at the feet of the governor who forced these places to take know covid patients. There is far more harm being done with lockdowns and masks and social distancing than the virus would ever do. It is long last time to get on with life

I personally know medical people and one epidemiologist - they disagree that masks protect you from any virus...the best they can do is limit the spray of those who are sick...it’s why surgical crews wear masks - to prevent them from spreading germs to a vulnerable patient, why they wear masks during high outbreaks - in case one of them is sick w/o realizing it so it doesn’t spread throughout the staff.
A healthy person benefits almost zero for a mask - a lot of those countries you speak of have a high incidence of mask wearing due to pollution in the air...

Americans do not seem to have the IQ to understand how masks work. They are not to protect you from being infected they are to prevent you from infecting others. If everyone wears masks it reduces transmission rates by 80% or more. I am shocked at this point any medical person who would say not to wear a mask and doubt they told you what you are saying.
