I haven’t been there, but I’ve ‘driven’ through some of the nice areas on Google Maps. What you find is that EVERY house is behind a wall (usually 6 to 8 feet tall), with a gate. The wall goes right through the middle of the front yard, parallel with the street - and is electrified on top. I suspect that’s the property line and that the walls were added after ‘liberation’ there. Very sad to see.

Volunteered with a woman who’d moved here, with her family, from S Africa. She said they kept firearms by their side, at all times, in their home. Their front door and windows had wrought iron bars and they had an iron door in the hallway, between the living area and bedrooms, that was locked, at night.
I wonder what she/they’re thinking about what’s going on, here, now. (Her husband worked in the oil and gas field.)
