Austin leaders announced Monday afternoon that Austin/Travis County is moving to Stage 4 (out of 5) risk-based guidelines for COVID-19. In addition, Austin's "Stay Home" order was extended to August 15. The changes are based on a surge in the number of new coronavirus cases and hospitalizations.

Dr. Escott says it's critical that the public wear masks and keep their distance whenever and wherever they go out.

“Last week we had 799 new cases diagnosed in the Sunday to Saturday period. This represents a 90-percent increase as compared to the week prior,” said Dr. Escott.

Amazing how the first night of the riots not a word about social distancing or the virus.

Two straight weeks of protests. I imagine the elitists are clueless on why Austin is seeing a surge China Syndrome Virus cases. All the anti-freedom globalist left is sure of is that we need to avoid church services and Trump rallies.

The protests and riots began May 26th. Media and officials are trying to pretend that the spike in cases had no ties to the Leftist rebellion and are playing up that the protests began in June. Not so.

Even still people who went out June 1st could’ve been sick by June 5th and certainly by June 8th or the 13th.

It’s laughable as Governor Abbots orders override any crap the mayor tries to pull, he’s been trying to convince people for months he has a say in this

These moron’s realize that more testing is going to turn up more cases. On the Radio today, most of these cases are not serious enough to force hospitalization.

Until they let the herd roam free, they are just extending the amount of time the virus lives.

Cases? SO WHAT! How many hospitalizations? How many deaths? I mean ACTUAL deaths, not “well ol’ Willie died at the age of 95, but he had the antibody, so he died of Rona for sure!”

No. Most have never stayed home. What spiked it the most was the tourists, Memorial Day weekend parties and the protesters.

Is your grandma roaming free? Will she come out of the hospital totally unfazed or will you be writing her obit praising her for being part of the herd?

This Governor Abbott?

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott scolds 20-somethings for not wearing masks, taking coronavirus too lightly

I don’t get the ignorance of so many health officials when it comes to masks. Homemade masks do not protect against the virus. Also it is ridiculous to require them for people out of doors.

I was referring to mayor Adler who keeps trying to convince people they are on lockdown/stay at home despite his orders being overridden by governor

Please try reading the article. Covid-19 hospitalizations in Austin are up. I would not say “alarmingly so”, but it is a significant increase. ICU up too, not as much, but, that’s usually more of a lagging indicator. Vid @ article has good graph.

“Could” be “noise” (sort of), but bears watching.

The only relevant question is how many empty beds do the hospitals/ICU have. The entire premise for the lockdown was to “flatten the curve” to keep the health care system from being overwhelmed. Not even the most enthusiastic lockdown proponents thought it would reduce the total number of cases or keep anyone from catching the disease. There is no evidence the lockdowns did anything but the healthcare system was never close to being overwhelmed. Even New York with its self inflicted crisis ever ran out of ventilators or hospital beds.

We are. is in the summer season where hospital census is usually the lowest. It is time to open everything up and let people get on with life. Protect the nursing homes and eldercare and let everyone else return to normal
