I don’t see why women can’t be in combat IF (a big IF) they meet the same physical standards as men.
The first female fighter pilot in the U.S. military died in a crash shortly after she started. Allegations at the time said she would have not qualified if she was a man.
Karen Hutlgreen, and yes, she was deliberately promoted because of orders from above, and she did not meet the minimum qualifications. She kept failing her tests. They said "pass her anyway."
And she killed herself by flaming out her engine while coming in for a carrier landing.
