As reported in The Guardian, all of mainland France including Paris will be designated a "green zone" as of tomorrow. As such, cafes and restaurants will be permitted to open as normal; family visits will be permitted at retirement homes; and schools (except high schools) will reopen fully...

I hate to be a pessimist, but I always squirm when I hear people declare victory before the war is over. I recall the scene near the end of The Dirty Dozen, when Lee Marvin, Charles Bronson, and a couple of others are fleeing the German compound in some sort of open military vehicle. The John Cassavetes character stands up and shouts “We made it!” and is gunned down moments later by a surviving German soldier.
Well that’s good.

It was a long war against an implacable foe and we lost many lives, but we fought on to Victory!! It’s V-C Day. Liberated, at long last!!
