A statue of Jefferson Davis was removed from the rotunda of the Kentucky state Capitol on Saturday after a panel voted to remove the figure.
The commission, which has power over what statues are shown at the building, voted 11-1 on Friday to remove the statue of Davis, the leader of the Confederacy during the Civil War.

One more step closer to Utopia.
COVID is NOT the only sickness making the rounds. Libtard insanity is leaving COVID in the dust. Things which just sat there not offending anyone are suddenly “racist”. This is just sick. You can’t erase a country’s history by removing statues, you commie libtard fools. What’s really frightening is that government officials are rolling over like subservient dogs, wetting themselves to come out with pandering statements and actions. Why are they coming out like eunuchs, like geldings?
Why was his statue there in the first place? Kentucky wasn’t part of the Confederacy.
Place of birth.
These are things the south can’t blame the northern dem governors for.
I don’t know WHAT is going on in the lower half of our country but southerners’ history is being ERASED and no one is stepping up to stop it.
South didn’t start the war. They just wanted to go their own way.
And 150 years later they are being insulted and slapped in the face all over again.
But this time it’s by people in their states.
I don’t know why the citizens aren’t fighting back.
Perhaps the colleges have brainwashed 2 generations down there too. I dunno.
I’m a NYer but I have skin in the game. A part of USA history is being erased. That’s NEVER good for a country.
It saddens me.
If you travel deep enough into the hinterlands of Kentucky (far from the main roads) you will still see the Confederate flags.
(We have relatives in Danville and were in for a bit of a surprise when we drove out to a remote hiking trail.)
“South didnt start the war.”
Yes they did
“They just wanted to go their own way.”
Their own way being retaining slavery
Yeah you’re right they were the first folks in history to have slaves and of course that’s what the whole war was about even though only 5 percent of those fighting owned slaves.
Daily kos is a few clicks to the left.
You’re needed there.
You can cry like a b.tch there and be patted on the back for it.
First let me say I love your style and always find your viewpoints entertaining.
I live on the West Coast and these left-wing meatballs read anti-Southern hate propaganda 24/7 365 days a year. They also have the same arrogant bigoted attitude, toward the rural people that reside in their particular state. These condescending jerks actually think they are superior to the rest of the country morally and financially.
My prediction is they will eventually try to create their own separate country, and secede from the union.
The New England states considered it during the War of 1812, but never followed through. Which ended up destroying The Federalist Party.
The Southern states made an actual attempt and we know how that ended.
When these morons try it, I want some dudes from Alabama and Mississippi out here “busting some heads”.
What were Jefferson Davis accomplishments that earned him a statue? Was it his flawed military strategy? Or perhaps ot was the economic intervention, regulation, and state control of manpower, production and transport that were much greater in the Confederacy than in the Union.
Jefferson Davis was born in Kentucky.
Placed there by people nostalgic for the Confederacy - had a plaque declaring him to be a “hero, statesmen, patriot” - a person leading the secession from his own country. I’ve personally wanted to see it gone for a long time...the fact it would take something like the current situation for the sense of it to be realized is pitiful.
The South fired the first shots. There is no erasing history by removing this statue...it was placed there well after the Civil War was over and wasn’t placed there to mark history.
It was about slavery. Anything else was just window dressing. If you'd like I can quote secession statements from each of the Confederate states which bang on for paragraphs about how essential slavery is.
Very astute questions. It never belonged there to begin with.
Your ignorance is alarming...google the man and you will discover his military service as well as major contributions in high offices...
That’s just beyond absurd. Anyone can easily look up and read the resolutions of secession, the stump speeches by the Confederate politicians, newspaper editorials, etc. from the time and see what it was primarily about - and it was indeed about slavery and the belief in a master race, anger at northern states not returning the runaway slaves. To say otherwise is a blatant falsehood.
Indeed - it doesn’t take but a few seconds to look up and find the resolutions of secession and read them. It is crystal clear - nothing in the least bit ambiguous. Yet we have people who are just willfully ignorant about history who drone on and argue otherwise.
If the left had balls, they would try to burn down West Virginia Byrd land which has a statue, highway and building named for the KKK DNC legacy man every five miles within the state. The left always picks easy soft targets.
