Starbucks announced today it will expedite the rollout of its new Pickup store concept, powered by mobile ordering, in response to the coronavirus pandemic. It will also expand access to curbside pickup, drive-thru and walk-up counters in less dense, suburban markets, the company said. These changes arent going to arrive as new additions to Starbucks existing store lineup, however. Instead, the company said it will close up to 400 company-owned stores in the U.S. and Canada over the next 18 months, as it rolls out the new format stores and makes other changes.
...
A large part of the restructuring plan is to shutter more of Starbucks traditional cafe-like locations in favor of new formats that better cater to convenience orders, not sitting around with friends. One of these is the Starbucks Pickup store concept.

I don’t drink any coffee even at $5 a cup.

Tired of the bums hanging out in there?
The whole point of Starbucks was “the third place”.
You go to work, you go home, and you have Starbucks as the third place to relax in comfortable chairs and enjoy the coffee.
Not anymore!
I guess it’s just too risky and and expensive what with cities forcing them to give up their bathrooms to non-paying customers and homeless people and now these antifa/BLM riots.
I wouldn’t be caught dead drinking leftist coffee.
I almost understand the appeal of the coffeehouse atmosphere that Starbucks provides. But what’s the appeal of overpriced, burnt, bitter coffee handed to you for take-out? The prestige cup? I don’t get it.
I don’t do Starbucks either.
And no complaints will emanate from MSM on the jobs lost...
I wonder if they’ll revive that campaign where they encouraged staff to write personal notes on the sides of customers’ cups “I want to talk with you about racism” “Let’s talk about white racism” and so on. Real popularity booster——not.

In Washington state there are coffee kiosks in the strangest places. You’ll be driving outside of any city or small town and there is a coffee kiosk, and not reasonably priced. Never seen the need to drink coffee in the morning or anytime. I don’t drink coffee.
All those goateed hipsters that used to hang out there for hours and hours sipping on their one latte and sucking up the Wi-Fi with their MacBook Airs were a drag on profits. Now they don't have to cater to them anymore. They don't even have to maintain the bathroom.
For now on it's just "get it and go" business model and that is going to boost those profit margins. The Dunkin Donuts down the street from me sometimes has a drive-through line that's a quarter mile long. So I order from my app at home and pick up my order curbside.
Idiotic, the sit down and talk is a big part of the Starbucks thing for those who go there. I don’t see people paying the extra money for their coffee to go.
When the Starbuck’s chick handed me a cup of coffee with her bare hand covering the lid, including the sippy hole, it was the last time. Ewwwww.
It's as bad as going into an "Apple" phone store.
Accurate description.
OH NOES POOR COMMIES, should I feel sorry for them
I couldn’t agree more. But yes, the prestige cup is a thing as evidenced by the lines at their drive-thru.
As a one - two cup a day guy who likes
Starbucks product lets be serious
Every thread here has the chorus of people who dont like them
The truth, Ruth:
Starbucks has some good stuff
Their breakfast sandwiches and other food items
are very good and taste
better than most others - if it was sentient
the double smoked bacon croissant would laugh at Croissanwich
If youre Italian or Mediterranean like me you probably like their
espresso enhanced drinks and have
acquired the taste for it
The coffees are uniformly good
The Columbian, Christmas blends are favorites
Make no mistake people enjoy them a local
DD that became an unaffiliated coffee/bagel
place indifferent and mediocre
went bust when SB opened a 1/4 mile away
Much like the Wayback chased away by the Shake Shack
However
What they generally support politically and socially is anathema to me
Doubtless they are DNC BLM donors
Their SJW views and antics were and are obnoxious
They give aid and succor to every execrable cause
and probably a few universally good ones
(Im too lazy to look for the ones they support that I
wouldnt object to - anyone have a link handy?)
I have it both ways I get SB about 10% as
frequently as before and feel satisfied Ive
hurt their bottom line hence the closures
They chose junkies over decency - they chose poorly
People will be out of work, mostly college age
which sucks for them
but they will either find a different line of work where they can
conform, or stay freaky just like everyone else
