Contractors often cost waaaaaaaay more than regular employees do.
There can be savings but care should be taken to make sure the savings are not eclipsed by other costs of using contractors.
In my experience, outsourced contractors promise all kinds of savings, until the exceptions start piling up. And good luck chasing them down.
