How is it hard to say that they’re locking up items that are most commonly stolen?

Everything will get locked up instead

So easy Wal Mart. Announce you will no longer lock them up. THEN reduce, or eliminate, selling the product altogether.

Sheesh. You are welcome.

How embarrassing, to be someone from a race that steals so much they have to have a special category of theft-control devices for the stuff you buy.

Imagine is it was Shabbat candles.

Imagine if it was Halal products.

And twice as embarrassing to make a complaint to the store about it.

I was in a store the other day (Shoppers Food Warehouse) and saw a matronly African American lady stuffing extra grapes into one fixed price grape bag.

I told her what she was doing was wrong.

She glanced at me, put the big grape bag into her cart, and walked away.

They should certainly stop locking up items based on culture, and only lock up items that are stolen most frequently.

CBS Denver reporter Tori Mason was the first to disclose the change, after receiving an email from Walmart in response to her story highlighting a situation that people of color have long faced.

I'm sure Tori Mason will get on the next big story of highlighting a situation that people of illness (POI) have long faced: locking away pseudoephedrine drugs (Sudafed, Advil Cold & Sinus).

Or she can tackle the other big story that people of hirsuteness (POH) have long faced: locking away multi blade razors.

“Everything will get locked up instead”

Just lock the front doors to the store and let one customer at a time in.

Tori Mason happens to be black, and she wears WAY too much makeup.

“Steal away...”

Yep, in other words, they’re ‘free’ now. I wonder if they’ll just take their time restocking, as they drift out the doors.

Locked because of theft by you who use it. Wal-Mart should give them out at the door as gifts for shopping

Gee, there was no Wal-Mart in the northeast in those days, but my mom’s “Dippity-Do” was NEVER locked up.

Instead of telling everybody you’re doing it, just do it.

Heck, Walmart also locks up $30 USB memory sticks, inconveniencing that pasty white man.

One of my best friends used an Afro-Sheen bottle as his trombone slide sprayer.

I’ve noticed in some stores they have cameras and screens that alert when someone is in those aisles. I’d bet money they have those setups in the stores when they get rid of the locked cabinets.

Walmart is posturing.

They could have locked up everything, or they can now always be out of stock for the high shrinkage items...
